In July 2015, EpiHack™ Rio, the first in South America, took place with participants from 12 countries aiming to build a digital disease detection and participatory surveillance system for mass gatherings. Disease detection at mass gatherings was an issue of particular importance given the upcoming 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
EpiHack™ Rio informed the design and development of Guardians of Health.
