EpiHack™ Uganda focused on supporting the surveillance and response capacities of the Uganda Ministry of Health and collaborating partners. Over 60 participants joined the five-day event to address challenges related to outbreak management, contact tracing, laboratory sample tracking, and facility registry data.
Ministry, NGO, and technology partners worked together to map and prototype a new system for tracking laboratory samples from the district level to the central public health labs, develop a digital contract tracing system with the capacity for automated follow-up with contacts, and design a real-time outbreak management system for tracking key actions and events by responsible parties. Ending Pandemics and InSTEDD will support a Technology Fellow to be embedded within the Ministry of Health to support the continued development of these solutions.
