Held in March 2014, EpiHack™ Chiang Mai was a four-day event that brought together 44 developers and human/animal health experts to develop a prototype for human, animal, and environmental disease detection for a One Health surveillance platform.
EpiHack™ Chiang Mai empowered human and animal health officials with more timely data to respond faster and contain outbreaks. The project developed seven digital prototypes addressing a broad range of issues in the One Health sphere, including a wildlife reporting system, individual health surveillance, professional health surveillance, and an overall platform collecting submitted health data. Some of the developed prototypes led to the Participatory One Health Digital Disease Detection (PODD) project, which resulted in an app designed to detect emerging animal and environmental health threats in Chiang Mai.
